FAQ

Is the soundboard available in other languages?
If enough interest is shown, it's possible to implement localization.

What audio file formats are supported?
Standard audio files that web browser support such as mp3, wav, midi.

How can I add buttons, remove buttons, or change the layout of the soundboard?
[Note: Do not make changes to the soundboard while modifying the Interactive Studio game]
If you would like to do any modifications to the soundboard, navigate to https://mixer.com/i/studio, locate the Soundboard Interactive Soundboard game in the list, and click Editor then click Build. From there, here are your options:

  • To add a button, on the left side click the plus sign to the right of Controls, this new sound will be at the bottom of this list.
    • Click and drag this button from the bottom of the list onto the grid. (Remember to do add them to each grid!)
  • To remove a button, find the button on the right side associated with the number on the grid, click the arrow, and click the red trash bin to remove it.
  • To resize buttons on the grid, simply grab the handles on the edges of each button.
  • To move buttons on the grid around, simple grab and the drag the buttons. Finally, once you have made all your changes, click save on the top right of the Interactive Studio. Once you've done this. Click the Load Changes from Mixer button.

In the Interactive Studio, can the soundboard have multiple scenes?
Not yet.

In the Interactive Studio, can I rename the game?
No, the game must stay as the default Soundwave Interactive Soundboard.

The soundboard does not seem to connect to Mixer. What can I do?
This issue is usually because an anti-virus or firewall is blocking the application. Make an exception for this application.
Attempt to run the application as an Administrator, or even right click and troubleshoot compatibility. The settings it recommends should help it.

Connectivity Issues

Sometimes Windows might not allow the connection going in or going out of Soundwave Interactive.
Some of the messages you might see on the application are as followed:

  • "It appears we're having troubles contacting home."
    • This occurs when the application can not contact our API to authenticate.
  • "Failed to Connect to Mixer"
    • This occurs when the application fails to contact Mixer’s API
  • "Uh oh! We’re struggling to shake hands with Mixer!"
    • This occurs when the application fails to connect to Mixer’s Interactive servers.

Solution

These issues have only been reported happening on Windows and the majority of the people were able to fix this issue via adding it to the Windows Firewall as a trusted application.

As a general rule, please add the following as trusted applications in your firewall:

  • "C:\Users<PC username>\AppData\Local\Soundwave Interactive\Soundwave Interactive.exe"
  • "C:\Users<PC username>\AppData\Local\Soundwave Interactive\app-\Soundwave Interactive.exe"

Step 1) Search for "Allow an app through Windows Firewall" in the start menu

Step 2) Once inside the firewall application, click "Change Settings", click "Allow Another App..", then click "Browse" on the new window.

Step 3) Navigate to your user’s AppData folder. Inside the Local folder, there is a "Soundwave Interactive" folder. Inside that folder, there may be various "app-" folders. Go inside the latest version and add the "Soundwave Interactive.exe". Make sure both Public and Private checkboxes next to it are checked on.
