Why does Git say that files are modified right after I clone the repo?

When I run git-status in a fresh clone of this repo, it tells me that files are modified, even though I haven’t made any changes yet:

When I run git-restore like git-status suggests, it doesn’t seem to fix the problem:

What’s going on here? How do I get rid of these local changes that I didn’t make?

It's line endings or file permissions-I ran into the same problem last week with github desktop. Do a git reset --hard.
