Kernel update path when using these images

Just a question really. Since these images (AFAIK both hypriotOS 32-bit and this repo) are not using the kernel from aptitude, what's the intended way to keep the kernel up to date? Seems like you essentially would either need to compile kernel updates manually, re-flash the SD card, or attempt to pull the /boot stuff out of an updated image?

Not sure if it's possible, but it would be good if the built kernel could be updated via aptitude, possibly such as by hosting an apt repository on github pages, if GH pages would support such a thing.
