Hi DUO team,

I am not able to find the modifier "Methods" (Def: Use of the data includes methods development research (e.g., development of software or algorithms) in the ontology. This term is in the options for researchers to pick when drafting the data use limitations statements in Institutional Certificates. Researchers have been using this term. Will you be able to add this term?
Attaching a pic of the DUL and DUL modifier terms in an Institutional Certificate.
Thanks,
Suvvi

Hi Suuvi,

In DUO methods development is allowed unless using the modifier "no general methods research" https://www.ebi.ac.uk/ols4/ontologies/duo/classes/http%253A%252F%252Fpurl.obolibrary.org%252Fobo%252FDUO_0000015?lang=en

Does that work?

Hi Melanie,

Nice to see your message. Hope you are doing well.

Is the assumption here that every research involves some level of methods development and use "no general methods research" only when the research does not involve any methods development? But for our purposes, we will need a term explicitly explaining that there is methods development (MDS). I see a ticket #73 where I think a decision has been made that MDS is not needed. Can you revisit this issue? It will be helpful if there is a term for MDS.

Thanks,
Suvvi
