This repository contains the PhanSST Database of paleo-sea surface temperature (SST) proxy data spanning the Phanerozoic Eon and is associated with the manuscript:

The PhanSST global database of Phanerozoic sea surface temperature proxy data (Judd et al., accepted, Scientific Data).

Please refer to this manuscript for additional information and cite it when using data from the PhanSST database.

PhanSST_BlankEntryTemplate.csv

This file provides a blank template with which to enter new paleo-SST data. Completed data entry templates can be submitted via the PhanSST website (paleo-temperature.org) or by email (PhanSST@outlook.com). For detailed information regarding contributing data via the data entry template, please visit paleo-temperature.org.

Updates:

  • 3 November 2022:
    • Fixed error where SampleDepth values weren't compiling correctly with certain proxy systems
    • Removed 2 references that presented seasonal rather than bulk data (Klein et al., 1997; Grossman et al., 2019)
    • Added data from two new references (Babila, 2014; Brand and Bruckschen, 2002)
    • Added option "2" for AgeFlag, to allow for certain data to have manually input numeric and relative age information (this is useful for data near boundaries, such as the K/Pg or PETM, whose age models might reflect older boundary date assignments)
