[DMP 2024]: Micro-Improvement Projects #1
Comments
Hey @padma-panchapakesan, I'm excited to express my keen interest in contributing to the Micro-Improvement Projects initiative with ShikshaLokam. The concept of micro-improvements, aimed at fostering professional growth and development, resonates deeply with me. ShikshaLokam's solution, designed as a systematic and process-driven approach to implement these micro-improvements, presents an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact. The challenge of catering to a diverse user base, ranging from tech-savvy individuals to those with a low level of digital comfort, across various sectors, is one that I am eager to tackle. Ensuring the solution is user-friendly, intuitive, and easily navigable for users with different levels of digital maturity is paramount. I'm excited about the prospect of contributing to the design and implementation of features that will enhance the usability and effectiveness of the platform. From the current state analysis, it's evident that there's room for improvement, particularly in terms of user navigation and understanding of features. By conducting thorough user research and understanding their needs and pain points, we can iteratively design and implement changes that address these issues and make the platform more valuable to its users. The desired state of the solution, where users are motivated to continuously engage with the platform and initiate new improvement projects regularly, is a vision I am fully committed to realizing. By focusing on creating an intuitive UI/UX design and incorporating features that encourage user participation and habit formation, we can transform the platform into an indispensable tool for professional development. I'm excited to collaborate with the team at ShikshaLokam and contribute to achieving the project's goals and milestones. Together, let's create a platform that empowers users to embark on their improvement journey with confidence and enthusiasm. Looking forward to the opportunity to work on this project under your mentorship. Best regards, |

Micro-improvement refers to any incremental change or enhancement made by leaders towards their professional growth and development. Shikshalokam’s solution, known as projects, is a systematic and process-driven way to implement micro-improvements. Projects can be either assigned by stakeholders or designed by the user for self-improvement.
This projects is an open source capability which can be adopted and hosted as a SaaS service. It is designed for pan-India deployment and has multi-language support. Since the users of this solution can belong to very diverse backgrounds, the challenge is to make this solution extremely user friendly, highly intuitive and easy to navigate for this broad spectrum of users.
The solution is also designed to work offline to cater to areas with poor connectivity.
Key design-research questions
Since the solution will be used by a wide range of people from different domains, having different levels of digital maturity, the main problem that needs to be addressed is how to make the solution highly intuitive, easily understandable, easily navigable thus improving its usability.
Current State
As per our user research, many users found the current solution difficult to navigate through. Some of the features of the solution were hardly used by users as they did not understand how to use it and the purpose of the feature. Many users also look at the solution as a documentation tool rather than a complete tool that helps and assists them in achieving their micro-improvements.
Desired State
The main objective of this solution is to help and guide leaders to continuously improve in a systematic and measurable way by adopting the micro-improvement approach.
Since continuous improvements are imperative for any professional development, the solution should be designed in such a way that users will want to come to the platform frequently and keep initiating new improvement projects on a regular basis. The idea is to make users habitual to taking-up improvement projects continuously and get hooked-on to this application as the means in their improvement journey.
Goals & Mid-Point Milestone
Goals
[Goal 1]: User research to understand what works and what does not work in the current solution
[Goal 2]: Understand what changes/additional features will make users come again and again to the platform to initiate and complete projects
[Goal 3]: Come up with a UI/UX design that is intuitive. easily understandable and easily navigable that caters to different types of users and personas and make users get into the habit of taking up micro-improvement projects
[Goals Achieved By Mid-point Milestone]: Goal1 and Goal 2 can be mid-point milestones
