There's not much hope for a resurrection according to this Wikipedia discussion:

Genau. Die Zertifikate waren hin, der Dienst also strenggenommen seit einigen Jahren nicht benutzbar. Zudem aktualisierten sich immer weniger Datenquellen automatisch, das DNS war an Plattenüberlauf erstickt. Nun ist der Server abgeschaltet und die Domain expired. -- Thomas Berger (Diskussion) 00:58, 16. Jan. 2024 (CET)

So I'll remove the service and links from the WeGA-WebApp for now, but would be more than happy to find an alternative! Comments welcome!

Happy to find out about https://data.deutsche-biographie.de/beta/beacon-open/ which looks like an alternative for persons (only?)
