I am a physician-scientist in training, doctoral researcher at the <a href="http://www.marc.urv.cat/en/" target="new" style="color: white !important">Medical Anthropology Research Center</a>, University Rovira i Virgili (Tarragona, Spain), working at the interface between social and health sciences.</br></br>
My current project, funded by the Spanish Ministry of Universities until October 2026, is an action-research one focused on assessing ways to eliminate coercion in mental health settings through patient and stakeholders engagement.

, the creation of an open source decision support system, and the translation of bleeding edge research into the best-practice protocols necessary to apply personalized, evidence-based techniques to build up habits for optimal performance, acuity and resilience in high-demand environments. The project involves the exploration of effective strategies for mental health recovery after crisis, as well as the potential of implementing expert systems, machine learning, biometrics tracking solutions, and social and bioengineering interventions applied to preventive, palliative and enhancement medicine. Other areas of active research include psychedelics and consciousness, rejuvenation, <a style="color:white !important" href="docs/shojin.odp">non-animal based nutrition</a>, and biopsicopolitics as part of micro and macrobiome management, the democratization of scientific knowledge, and the stop to a halt of human organ trafficking, the political abuse of psychiatry, the silencing of dissenting voices, violence against those not even considered as legitimate, and other forms of torture and exploitation of life; the creation of mutual aid support networks for the establishment of nurturing strong bonds through the promotion of responsible, respectful and caring lifestyle choices.</br></br>

Previous research experience includes working for the Stanford Center for Legal Informatics (CodeX) of Stanford Law School (California, USA), the James E. Rogers College of Law of the University of Arizona (USA), and the Institute de Hautes Études Internationales et du Développement, The Graduate Institute Geneva (Switzerland), focusing on social networks analysis and the impact of cognitive biases in the decision making process in investor-state and state-state disputes at the World Trade Organization Dispute Settlement Body and <a href="https://enricgarcia.md/arbitration" target="new" style="color: white !important">other international arbitration courts</a>. More recently I researched the potential genetic basis of the schizophrenia construct, as well as the effects of the neuritin gene (<i>NRN1</i>) and associated neurotrophic factors in cortical thickness at FIDMAG Research Foundation, Complejo Asistencial Benito Menni de Hermanas Hospitalarias.</br></br>
My academic background includes two years of a dual degree in neuroscience and smart systems at Keele University (West Midlands, UK), four years of evolutionary anthropology at University Rovira i Virgili and Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (Barcelona, Spain), a Master's degree in biological anthropology with a specialization in psychiatric genetics and human diversity at the Universitat de Barcelona and Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (Spain), and a couple of postgraduate degrees in collective mental health and dialogical practices.</br></br>
I am more than willing to collaborate with fellow knowledge workers, practitioners, activists and citizen scientists undertaking joint research, as well as to help organizations and public bodies evaluate and translate findings into better policies and practices.
