Unfortunately, that is not the only reason. Mainly, Whatsapp guys are hostile to the community (see all these DMCA that they sent / are sending). I already had a phone number temporarly blocked some weeks ago due to "eccessive use of web interface" (?!?). Also, they seems to want to make things more complicated than necessary in order to slow down project like this.
I'm well aware that other projects (expecially multi-client) are live and running, but I don't want to go futher on a project that can be closed any moment because some burocrats want to fight its own customers.
I'm abandoning Whatsapp too.

So it's best to migrate on the Telegram.

How unfortunate this attitude of whatsapp, you made a client to help them, including support for linux, which they do not do and still mess up the project.

@Enrico204, before you left, could not you make a deb x64 package with the video rate feature? to adjust the speed of the videos in whatsapp, I had opened that request. even if you are closing the project, I still use the program.

@usernatilds wish it was that simple. I have a lot of friends and groups I use to communicate daily that use WhatsApp and don't know what telegram is, I had done the switch long ago if I could 😢

@usernatilds sorry, I don't want to do more work on this project after all.
@JuanCAlpizar you can still use the web version of WhatsApp.

This is really sad, the attitude of whatsapp/facebook guys is embarrassing, I hope to find a replacement at the same height, I refuse to use whatsapp web from my browser.

Anyways, thanks for your work and effort, I really enjoyed your client, I will continue using it until it is blocked.

I agree, it's a pitty that a project like this is closing: not only it was my preferred linux client, but it is was working really well. Really thanks Facebook and Co. I wish someone had stopped you Mr Zuckerberg when you was at university programming that s**t of Facebook.

Mi dispiace Enrico, che vadano a ca**re...

@Enrico204 thanks for the suggestion, but having WhatsApp restrained to a browser is something I don't really want to do as it is. I'm a full stack developer, so I usually have more than one browser open, and a dozen of tabs open on each one. Having one tab somewhere in one browser I have to keep going back, or opening one more browser instance for a single tab, are solutions I don't like at all, which is why I mainly started using projects like this.

I do understand how you feel and I totally dislike Facebook attitude about it, I mean Facebook Messenger 1.5, I mean WhatsApp attitude about the community support, so I can't blame you on closing the project. For now, I'll stick to Nativefier, which is not as complete as your project was, but still gives it a more proper look and feel of an app and hopefully, they won't be bothering because it is just a webview like a normal browser tab would.

Cheers, and wish you the best in your future projects 👍

What I feel is that it was nothing wrong in this project. Its just the interface to web based. WhatsApp-Desktop was a beautiful creation and it shows the creativity of the human. I agree with the decision taken by @Enrico204

Thanks @Enrico204

I suppose the issue is with the name which caused the trouble. I saw lot of people have forked it and I think they will still be able to do something and add some value for eg changing the name, add new features etc.
