All repositories are d710.. Epic4gtouch repositories were left only for
archiving

Chris, I'm not trying to start anything, I just committed that into my own
repo, and since I forked it from you, it did that. Also, I know you're
working to get the device official CM, but as seen in the kernel, you have
some repos pointing to d710, and some cm-epic4gtouch. When I tried building
according to your AOSP guide, I had to create my own repos since most of
your repos are pointing towards two different device names. It would make
sense to change everything to d710 or keep it at epic4gtouch. You shouldn't
leave inconsistencies in the repositories.

One more thing chris, since I'm building AOSP 4.2 straight from Google with the added device trees , kernels , and properitory files (which has been building without any errors) , will you be building a kernel for 4.2 or will a 4.1 kernel work with it? If you want, I can provide you with the zip after it's complete.

i have been trying to follow: http://aosp.chris41g.org/chris41g_org/aosp/post/2012/07/09/How-To-Compile-CyanogenMod-9-from-Source.aspx
since you say the readmes are never updated ( i tried )

I cannot get extact-files.sh to work no matter if i replace d710 with epic4gtouch. Been trying to see what you did, edit the sh, got nowhere

i'm a little lost to say the least...

maybe could you tell us what line to add in the local_manifest.xml to get the propetary files without extracting them from the phone? or update extract-files.sh?

EDIT: adding this to local_manifest
leads to a complaint in the sync, says there's a duplicate in the manifest.xml

extract-files.sh is broken. you need the current vendor blobs. If you do some searching you may find where CyanogenMod gets there blobs from.... hint poke around in here --->https://github.com/CyanogenMod/hudson/blob/master/ics.xml... this doesnt EXIST!!!! Like fight club... GET IT!

Thank you!
so far so good, but i havent actually built yet.

For FUTURE people:
I also had to rename a directory to get this to work...
. build/envsetup.sh && breakfast d710 was complaining that /devices/samsung/d710 didnt exist...
and executing:
. build/envsetup.sh && breakfast epic4gtouch
didnt make a difference...

---so i renamed (your dir)/devices/samsung/epic4gtouch to /devices/samsung/d710

building tonight, wish me luck

You're using the old repositories if your directory is epic4gtouch. I'll upload my local_manifest.

Thank you for all the help!

despite this, and having no error messages on compile, when installing the .zip, my phone just will not boot.
it doesnt even get to the cyanogenmod screen, it's just an eternal black screen and i have to pull the battery out.

I of course tried redoing the entire process over more than once to be sure

I've been using this guide to place install the .zip, each time starting from a clean gingerbread root (from odin, no data, no nothing)

http://www.androidauthority.com/galaxy-s2-epic-4g-touch-sph-d710-cyanogenmod-9-cm9-65405/

I clear dalvik cache, i clear user data, i clear cache (not in that order...)

I have tried using the 5.0 CWM onetime boot, and also using the 6.0 CWM

I have made no changes to the source (yet)

I am making an issue, i will link to it in this comment soon (via edit)

EDIT: #10

Yep, it's because you're using the old repo.

i'm using the readme which was updated 3 days ago now, i no longer need to replace epic4gtouch with d710, more specifics in issue 10
