A more streamlined approach to duplicating attachments between skins is proposed by Fabiano here

The suggested method is:

select all attachments from an existing skin, that need to be added in target skins.
click to duplicate, could be a button next to the current duplicate button in the tree.
select the target skins from a list where the attachments should be duplicated to
having the possibility to choose what to do with meshes (linked or not)
see a warning icon when I'm trying to add that attachment to a skin placeholder that is already populated
