Sharing Between ArcGIS Online Organizations

If you want to share content to ArcGIS Online users outside of your Organization, apply these steps.

Update Sharing and Security

Sign-in as an Administrator. Then click My Organization -> Edit Settings -> Sharing and Security (Both orgs should check both options)

If I enable “searching” will other people outside of my Organization be able to discover my content?

Depends. If a company shared their content data publicly then yes. If shared only to the organization or group, no. Recommendation, sensitive data should not get shared publicly.

If I invite someone to my group from another organization will that person see items shared to organization?

No, they only will see items within the group they were invited too.

Create Group to hold the user

Sign-in as an Administrator or Publisher. Then click Group -> Create New Group. Depending on preferences groups can be setup in different ways. My preference is always to create a private group and allow everyone to contribute. Once group is created, click on the group to enter the group page use the Invite Users button to invite users. It’s helpful to know the user (from the different ArcGIS Online Organizations) ArcGIS Online name. (if you cannot discover the user you want to invite see next paragraph)

Ask the user to make their username discoverable

Sign-in as a User Role. Then click My Profile -> Edit My Profile –> Who can see my profile -> Everyone. This allows people to discover your ArcGIS Online username from different ArcGIS Online Organizations making it easy for people to add you to their organization.
