About this module:

This module was created for the excavation of the Bleichert Ropeway Tension Pit, located in the Blue Mountains National Park, organised by the Blue Mountains World Heritage Institute, Katoomba, Australia. The module has been designed to document an entire workflow of archaeological excavation, using an arbitrarily assigned measurement of depth and extent (spits).

Authorship:

This module was developed by Adela Sobotkova at the FAIMS Project, Department of Ancient History, Macquarie University.

Funding:

Development of this module was funded by the Research Attraction and Acceleration Program (RAAP) NSW Department of Industry 16805/00 aimed to support innovation and investment in the New South Wales in 2016 and 2017.

  • controlled vocabularies
  • validated fields with user observations
  • coordinates from internal GPS
  • photo capture on device

This module can be used with no or minor modification for:

  • archaeological excavation using arbitrary units
  • field school or hands-on archaeological training
