ELYSIUM, is a novel elastic scaling approach for Apache Storm that provides efficient resource utilization. It automatically scales Storm along two indipendent dimensions, i.e., operator and resources. ELYSIUM employs a fine-grained model for estimating the resource utilization of a stream processing application (namely, topology), that enables the independent scaling of operators and resources, yet with a symbiotic approach.
