About The Project

Respiration-rate-and-heart-rate-detection is a project developed for the Biomedical Signal Processing exam at the University of Milan (academic year 2020-2021). It implements an algorithm to analyze accelerometric signals collected with a smartphone positioned on the thorax while supine. Accelerometers contained in recent smartphones are sufficiently precise to detect small accelerations, like to ones induced on the thorax by the beating of the heart and movement of the lungs. So the validation of the code was performed by recording signals with different (controlled) respiration rates.
