If you want to run the software without installing java you need to use vlccontroller-2.0.0_openjdk-1.8.0.141-1.b16.zip

basic usage

  1. Install Java 8 or later
  2. Windows: Use the Installer from the offical Java website
  3. Linux: bash sudo apt-get install openjdk-8-jre
  4. Download the latest Version of VLCController (just look upside ;) )
  5. Extract it
  6. run VLC media player
  7. change config of VLC media player as shown in the docs folder of your extracted file with HostIP: 127.0.0.1
  8. start the software
  9. test the software on the command line
  10. start 127.0.0.1:8080 in a browser
