When manufacturers make panelized boards, the USB-C port conflicts very slightly with the SD card slot on the adjacent board. If the assembler is careful this can be worked around. For a more relaxed assembly environment with a lower level of cussing, it would make sense to move the USB-C port up a few mils and/or the SD slot down a few mils.
