GHC-Scholarships

Comprehensive list of student scholarships for the Grace Hopper Celebration for Women in Computing held every Fall. This list aims to cover all relevant scholarships, even if they apply to specific sub-groups (LGBTQ+, specific country, etc) to enable as many students to attend GHC as possible!

2019 Scholarships

Scholarship Opens Deadline Level Eligibility Includes
GHC Conference Scholarship -- March 6, 2019 at 5 p.m. PT Undergraduate
Graduate
Full-time student in an accredited degree program at a college or university at the time of the conference. Scholarships include individual registration for the three day celebration, hotel accommodations (student scholars will be assigned a roommate), airfare booked and paid for by AnitaB.org Travel Consultant, travel stipend (if used wisely, stipend will cover transportation costs to and from the airport, baggage fees, meals, and other travel incidentals)
Hoppers Program May 15, 2019 -- Volunteers These volunteers work multiple shifts, up to eight non-consecutive hours spread over the three days of the celebration. They must attend an orientation and commit to their assigned shifts. Hoppers may sometimes miss sessions in order to make GHC run successfully. For their efforts on behalf of GHC, Hoppers receive complimentary registration and are able to attend sessions, visit the career fair, and take advantage of everything GHC has to offer.
Microsoft Diversity Conference Scholarship (Application Link) February 1, 2019 February 28, 2019 Undergraduate
Graduate
Applicants must be enrolled full time in a Bachelors, Masters, or PhD program at a four-year college or university in the United States, Canada, or Mexico at the time the application is submitted. The scholarship is open to students pursuing Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related STEM field. Paid registration, Travel, hotel, and meal stipend
CRA-W Grace Hopper Celebration Research Scholars Program (Application Link) -- April 5, 2019 11:59 p.m. ET Undergraduate This scholarship is given to undergraduate students in the computer science and engineering field attending a US institution and/or be a US citizen or permanent resident studying abroad, who have completed at least one year of undergraduate study at the college level, and be majoring or planning to major in computer science, computer engineering, or informatics. We cannot support students after their graduation date. CRA will directly cover the cost of the $450 student registration to the Grace Hopper Celebration. Selected Research Scholars will be provided a registration link and code, which must be used for their registration. Registrations completed outside of this process will not be reimbursed. All CRA-W GHC Research Scholars will share a hotel room with another scholar. CRA will directly pay for the hotel room expenses; however, scholars must provide a credit card or debit card to the hotel upon check-in for any incidental expenses they may incur. CRA will reimburse your actual reasonable travel expenses up to a limit of $350.00. Please save all your receipts, as you will need those when submitting your reimbursement request after GHC.
GHC 19 Women in Technology Untapped Pathways Grant (Application Link) -- May 7, 5 p.m. PT. Not for students To be eligible you have to be older than 18, have a desire to work in tech, not a current student/faculty, not be working at a for-profit, must reside in the US/US teritorries. In addition you need to meet one of the following: Completed a degree from an MSI institution or completed degree from a 2-year college or is currently enrolled in an alternative tech program or completed a certificate from an alternative tech program (e.g., coding bootcamp or other accelerated coding program) This grant includes the following: Individual Registration, Hotel, Transportation, Travel stipend (if used wisely, stipend is expected to cover transportation costs to and from the airport, baggage fees, meals, and other travel incidentals). Anita Borg Organization will provide the stipend when you pick up your badge at GHC. Awardees pay upfront for travel day meals and taxis-shuttles to the GHC venue. Note: If you receive a grant and do not notify AnitaB.org that you cannot attend the Celebration, you will not be eligible in future years as this takes an opportunity away from another individual that could have attended. Also, with this grant you cannot accept more than one award to attend GHC.
GHC 19 Women of Color in Technology Complimentary Registration (Application Link) -- May 7, 5 p.m. PT. Not Applicable This complimentary registration is given to people who identify as women from one of the following underrepresented groups (URGs); African American, Black, Hispanic, Latina, Native American, Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander. Who demonstrate a desire to work in tech. Is NOT employed by a for-profit (exceptions if working in startup of < 5 years old), can attend all 3 days of the conference, and meets one of the following: is transitioning between jobs or is a faculty/staff in the education sector or government employee or working at a non-profit or student (<18 eligible too if accomplanyied by a chaperone) If awarded, an individual will receive a complimentary GHC 19 registration, which provides access to only the 3 days of GHC 19. Individuals must be able to pay for out-of-pocket expenses associated with attending the event, including: hotel, travel (flight, train, bus, taxi, etc), meals, and any other costs associated with the trip. Note: If you receive a complimentary registration and do not notify AnitaB.org that you cannot attend the Celebration, you will not be eligible in future years as this takes an opportunity away from another individual that could have attended.
Yext 2019 Grace Hopper Scholarship -- July 15, 2019 11:59PM ET Rising college juniors and seniors Applicants should be pursuing an internship or career in Software Engineering. Please note that current Yext full-time employees are not eligible for this scholarship. Paid registration, travel, hotel, meal stipend, and private reception with Yext employees (software engineers and recruiters)
Facebook Grace Hopper Scholarship 2019 -- Friday, June 29th, 5:00pm PDT Undergraduate
Graduate
The scholarship is open to all women currently enrolled in a 4-year undergraduate or graduate degree-seeking university program, majoring in Computer Science or a related field (i.e. Computer Engineering, Math, Statistics, Information systems). Open to international applicants. Paid registration for the Grace Hopper Celebration, Paid travel and lodging, including a pre-Grace Hopper Celebration program in Orlando that includes tech talks, mentoring sessions and networking events from September 30 - October 5, 2019, An invitation to a private reception with Facebook's Engineering Team during the Grace Hopper Celebration, Additional meal stipend
Anita B Aspiring Technologist Scholarship -- Friday, June 12th, 5:00pm PDT Undergraduate
Graduate

Requirements for Aspiring Technologists: a) Self-identify as a woman, b) Be 18 years or older at the time of attendance, c)Be available for the entirety of the Bootcamp and GHC, d) We will ask all participants to arrive on Monday, September 30 depart on Saturday, October 5, 2019. The Bootcamp is scheduled to start at 10am on Tuesday, October 1. e)Be a first-time attendee of GHC, f) Be seeking internships and/or entry-level position during GHC19 | Anita B is offering 14 Grace Hopper Celebration (GHC) funded participation packages to aspiring technologists from the NCWIT Aspirations in Computing Community. Packages include travel, hotel room, and registration for GHC19. GHC is taking place in Orlando, Florida this year from Tuesday, October 1 to Friday, October 4. All program participants will be flown to Orlando before the formal start of GHC so they can participate in an Aspiring Technologists Bootcamp. The Bootcamp will familiarize participants with GHC and prepare them to find internships or entry-level positions with sponsoring companies. |
