GNS3 version and operating system:

  • OS: Arch Linux (Linux laptop 5.13.13-zen1-1-zen # 1 ZEN SMP PREEMPT Thu, 26 Aug 2021 19:14:35 +0000 x86_64 GNU/Linux)
  • GNS3 version 2.2.25
  • no GNS3 VM or remote server

To Reproduce

  1. Place a file with a name 111switch.svg directly into ~/GNS3/symbols.
  2. Click on Change symbol, Symbols library.
  3. See that Custom symbols category suddenly jumped up. It was at the bottom of the list, but now it's on the first place.
  4. Rename 111switch.svg back to switch.svg.
  5. See that Custom symbols category jumped down. It is at the bottom of the list again.

I've written about this behavior in Part 3 of GNS3/gns3-server#1969, it wasn't fixed in 2.2.25.

Sorry I missed that. I will see if I can fix for the next release.

And, by the way, categories are definitely not in the alphabetical order. See, square before circle, green before gray, etc. It's a bit misleading.
