Objective: Private access roads differ in their access functions according to each scenario of where the roads are located. Private access roads impact routing and if wrongly added, can cause a lot of confusion.
This mapping exercise is basically to check all the private access roads currently present in Singapore, what tags they have associated with and what other tags are missing that need to be added.
Regions we are reviewing/mapping:
Singapore
Workflow:
The whole task is updated as a Map Roulette challenge here.
The workflow is to check:
Each highway and verify it with imagery to see whether it is a private access road
In case it is not an access private road, add the appropriate access tag. Do not use access=no since roads are usually pedestrian-friendly and access=no blocks everything.
If the road is blocked to everything including pedestrian, add access=no
If the road blocks 4w, add motorcar=no. If it blocks both 2w/4w, add motor_vehicle=no
If there are any barriers at the entrance or exit of the alley, add the appropriate barrier tag, exactly at the position of the barrier, and slightly away from the main road the alley is connecting to.
