Preference is to use OASIS+ icon for mobile view. Intention is to not have it visible in this way for desktop.

@ekidenda @PowderD Below are a couple of proposed designs that we can consider for mobile navigation. However, it's only hypothesized that the existing navigation is a problem, so we could do additional testing prior to implementing any changes.

Proposed design options

(Preferred) Add OASIS+ home link as breadcrumb on internal pages (i.e., everything except homepage)

Image

Add OASIS+ logo link to mobile header

Pros

  • using a logo to link "home" is standard practice

Cons

  • May be confusing having the GSA logo and the OASIS+ logo
  • Will have to ensure we have the required touch radius

@klohman we've considered the two options and elect to go with the OASIS+ Logo for back to home page navigation on mobile devices.

@ekidenda In terms of prioritization and implementing this change, I suggest we hold until we can do some usability testing - either as part of release 2 (in May). Let me know if you're ok with holding off on implementation or if you want to proceed beforehand.

@jfredrickson looks good! Can consider SD design and SD QA reviews done!

@PowderD @ekidenda mobile nav is now ready for your review!

Use a mobile device, or shrink your desktop screen to see how the navigation works once you move away from the homepage.

@jfredrickson Thank you, this is looking good.

@vickimcfadden Two comments. It's really odd that "per diem Lookup" is right above the search bar. Is that something we have to have? I makes me think that search bar is only for per diem and not for the site. Second thing, this is more of a design thing that may just bother me, but it's odd that the logo(in blue with the 3 stars underneath) is off center and there is a lot of blue space on the right while all the other information is pretty much centered on the page. That's a very nitpicky thing.

The rest looks great to me.

@PowderD I don't disagree about per diem lookup but this might have to be one of those compromises to have this appear to be within GSA.gov - - per diem is 84% of traffic to GSA.gov now.

pinging @klohman to weigh in as well!

Agree this is somewhere we may need to compromise. Per Diem isn't important for the OASIS+ program, but it's extremely important for GSA as a whole, and the main menu is intended to be the link back to GSA.gov.

Since this menu is also an important part of prototyping a GSA.gov sub-site, if we remove it or rearrange the order too much, it may make it more difficult to apply this functionality more broadly. (Also, cannot say for sure, but it also may make it more difficult during the eventual reintegration with Drupal).

@PowderD we discussed mobile-view on the oasis+ logo and it's probably fine for now, moving this to done.
