Hi, still having problems with this on my mac. Can someone please go through a step by step process? |
@ClancyA I'd recommend installing |
Any instructions on how to get this working on a mac? |
@harrywynnwill my comment above was for Mac, |
I was having this same issue with Atom v1.7.4 (ParticleDev) on a Windows 10 x64 machine. I was able to fix it by installing Uncrustify at... C:\Program Files (x86)\uncrustify-0.62.0-g5987f22-win32\ Then I added that directory to my System Path and rebooted my machine. This fixed the issue for me. Hopefully it works for you, too 👍 |
For those on mac os and have homebrew installed try this
then type
to check that it is installed |
I really want to focus on improving the installation experience for users. I have created a new Issue, #1687, to target this problem. Please provide your feedback! Thanks in advance. |
to @cbayles, @Glavin001 : Kindly resolve my issue.Thanks in advance. |
If I am not mistaken the
Maybe try removing this? Also if you are experiencing issues please report with a |

Is there anything preventing uncrustify from being packaged alongside atom-beautify? I feel it might be nicer if end user didn't have to manually add the linter to path. |
@IkeKap if you can find a way to programmatically perform all of the described installation steps for each of respective operation systems (e.g. Windows, Mac, Linux), including handling cases where package managers (e.g I personally recommend Docker for handling installation of Uncrustify and similar beautifiers: https://github.com/Unibeautify/docker-beautifiers Another option is a "cloud" solution: I could install all of the difficult beautifiers and provide remote access to them. Atom-Beautify could communicate with these services, allowing for zero-installation beautification. Thoughts? |
Ok, thank you very much for the explanation. I honestly didn't realize the complexity of the problem and didn't mean to sound arrogant. |
No worries, you are not alone 😉 . I am actively working on a solution for the poor installation experience. Thank you for your patience! |
On the bright side, if you install it on Linux from the default repos, it doesn't need to be added to the Path for beautify to work. I installed it and it worked with C flawlessly. |
Help improve Atom-Beautify by completing the questionnaire: https://goo.gl/iEHBNr Thank you in advance! |

@oviliz Paste that path to Uncrustify into Atom Beautify's settings under Executables -> Uncrustify |
Thanks @szeck87 . I was doing that already but not working. Then I've pasted the full path including the uncrustify.exe and it worked. So basically is working without having the where uncrustify confirmation. Thanks. |
@oviliz yea I think you need to do that on Windows. |
Just ran into this issue today, and I'm attempting to remain calm. When I save my bash scripts, it yells suddenly about not having docker. Then I realized that I've made some changes to my python. pip installing beautysh fixes the problem. But it looks like there's some sort of mildly enraging bug where if a beautifier isn't found, it falls through and attempts to find another beautifier. In my case it looks like it maybe landed on crustify (but that isn't supported for bash, so what the hell?), and then blew up because it couldn't find that either. If you need a bug report I can upload one, just let me know. |
It shouldn't be looking for another beautifier. If an executable based beautifier isn't found but has a supported Docker image, it will attempt to download that image and use it if you have Docker installed. If you can recreate please open a new issue with a gist. |
Why do we need Docker for this in the first place? |
You don't need Docker. It's just a convenience option so you don't have to download and install separate CLI exes. |
Installed uncrustify via homebrew on macos, using Atom 1.30.0 and latest atom-beutify. Trying to beautify a groovy script saved as .java
Seeing:
|
I have no idea.
