What is up with Sprocky?

Jon McLaren edited this page Apr 2, 2019 · 2 revisions

Sprocky is an April Fools joke released April 1st 2019 by developers in the HubSpot community. **Sprocky is not an official HubSpot April fools joke, nor an official HubSpot feature. Nothing he says is representative of HubSpot's views or anything. **

Sprocky is an opt-in feature

Sprocky originally released for April Fools toggled on by default. To prevent annoying anyone and to make some things more clear. Sprocky is as of version 1.04.2 an opt-in only feature. He can be toggled on by clicking the chrome extension icon and toggling him on.

Future plans: The option to toggle Sprocky on will eventually be hidden in the extension as an Easter Egg.

Sprocky is loaded with 55+ quotes, some funny, some informative, some general. We hope you got a kick out of him and that he brightened your day even just a little. Sprocky is based on Microsoft's Clippy, but with an obvious HubSpot theme.

Sprocky's development actually started around 2018's April Fools, community members joked about the idea, a graphic was even made. Actual true coding started about 3 weeks ago, and was a community effort.

We're developers in the HubSpot community that love the HubSpot platform and just wanted to bring a little joy to the rest of the community for April Fools.

Disable

Sprocky can easily be disabled if you find him annoying. To disable Sprocky please click the HubSpot Developer Chrome Extension, go to the "Develop" tab, and turn off the toggle for Sprocky.
