Check laptop microphone is not muted (especially keyboard) Check laptop output is not muted (especially keyboard)
Turn off bluetooth on laptop (settings or systemctl stop bluetooth)
Power it off
Power it on in pairing mode pushing Power button for seven seconds (blue light blink and voice message sink Bluetooth pairing)
Turn on Bluetooth on laptop (settings or systemctl start bluetooth)
Wait for WH-1000XM4 to appear
Click on it to pair, the voice prompt said "Bluetooth paired" and lights stops blinking
Go to Sounds settings / Output
Choose Output device "Headset WH-1000XM4"
Choose configuration "Handsfree head Unit (HFP)"
Input should display "Headset WH-1000XM4"

Use blueman CLI blueman-manager

pavuctl configuration choose under "WH-1000XM4" the profile "Handsfree head Unit (HFP)" Input tab, show all devices, mute all (internal microphone) but "Headset WH-1000XM4"

Restart Bluetooth on laptop instead of start/stop
sudo service bluetooth restart
