Google Recorder (com.google.android.apps.recorder) version: 3.5.439816822
Google (app) (com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox) version: 13.25.10.26.arm64
Play services (com.android.gms) version: 22.24.13
GrapheneOS version: 2022071100
Device: Google Pixel 6

Google Recorder can transcribe in English even with older Pixels, but on Pixel 6 it can leverage the TPU to be able to transcribe in other languages. The Google app is required for that. The stack trace shows that the library libedgetpu_util.so is missing, and that library seems to be used by Google apps to initialize the Google Tensor TPU with models.

Steps to reproduce:

  • Make sure the Google app is installed.
  • Launch Google Recorder, start a recording.
  • Switch to the transcribe mode (nothing happens).

Solved as of GrapheneOS13. libedgetpu_util.so is no longer missing, and offline speech recognition in multiple languages now works wonderfully.
