Open Data Portal Workshop Update (Taylor)

- Format
  - Pose questions at the beginning of the workshop, see if we can answer them in the two hour timeframe
  - Frame the session as a “scavenger hunt:” what kinds of data are available through the portal? What can we do with it that would be meaningful for community members? What data should be available but aren’t?
  - Accept suggestions for more datasets for the data portal
  - Brainstorming session for questions
    - Using existing datasets?
      - Code enforcement data?
    - What about datasets that are not on the portal that may be useful?
      - City budget breakdown?

        Integrate law enforcement spending data with crime rate data and see where there are issues?
      - Mashup opportunity: violation data (tires)

  - Introduction would have a prerecorded video about how to use the data portal
  - Structure as a mini-hackathon - have a list of questions that may be answered by the data portal, allow participants to pursue those or any Q they have in mind given the data sets
  - Or, should we have a booth where people can suggest datasets and learn about the portal?
