Hi Mike,
After sleeping on this I ran rigctld manually (rather than via systemd)
and have some output attached.
This is from starting wsjtx, attempting to TUNE and then change band
where it changed at the rig but only in wsjtx dialogue after about 10
seconds whereupon it stopped with the usual error message.

I hope this helps.

Fix TS450 and TS690 split check -- should be using IF status now

Should work with any rigs that don't have split status too in case there are any.
