Important: Do not tick a checkbox if you haven’t performed its action. Honesty is indispensable for a smooth review process.

After making all changes to a cask, verify:

smlnj 110.98 has a bug in the REPL that garbles the output. Does Homebrew provide a way to downgrade the cask to v110.97?

Sorry, I was not aware of the bug.

One way to install the old version is by uninstalling the current version and then issuing:

brew cask install https://raw.githubusercontent.com/caskroom/homebrew-cask/07193cd36f3effe184d099e59a79150851394930/Casks/smlnj.rb

which will install the previous 110.97 version from the parent commit.

EDIT: v110.98.1 is now merged into homebrew-cask so these steps should not be needed anymore.

Is there a way to make version 110.97 work on the macOS Big Sur beta? Version 110.98 changes were made for Big Sur support I suppose

Currently I'm not able to "use" .sml files inside the v110.97 REPL on the Big Sur beta (v110.98 works fine except the weird output)

What error are you seeing? Also, perhaps file a bug report at https://smlnj-gforge.cs.uchicago.edu/bugform.php

Ok, thanks! I'll report the bug on the smlnj website. Don't remember what the error was but I tried a stack overflow solution and didn't work, now I'm even having trouble installing the old version (error below), the smlnj team will hopefully solve everything when public stable macOS Big Sur will be officially released👍

Error: Failure while executing; `/usr/bin/sudo -E -- /usr/bin/env LOGNAME=danielfalbo USER=danielfalbo USERNAME=danielfalbo /usr/sbin/installer -pkg /usr/loc al/Caskroom/smlnj/110.97/smlnj-amd64-110.97.pkg -target /` exited with 1. Here's the output: installer: Package name is SML/NJ Version 110.97 installer: Installing at base path / installer: The install failed. (The Installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance. An error occurred while running scripts from the package “smlnj-amd64-110.97.pkg”.)
