brew doctor wrongly shows Xcode 6.1 to be the latest version #32421
Comments
What version of OS X are you running? 6.1 is only marked as the latest version for 10.10 (which is correct). |
I’m running 10.10. Xcode 6.1 hasn’t been released yet. 6.0.1 is the latest in the App Store and on developer.apple.com http://developer.apple.com/

Sorry my bad. Xcode 6.1 beta 2, is on the dev portal. Shouldn't brew still show 6.0.1 as the latest as that is the released version on the App Store. |
Since 10.10 is itself a prerelease, we're intentionally pointing users to prerelease Xcode versions as well. Once 10.10 is released, we'll only direct users to released versions. You can ignore this warning if you prefer to stay on Xcode 6.0. |
AFAIK, Xcode 6.0.1 does not contain the 10.10 SDK, so installing that on Yosemite wouldn't do anyone a lot of good right now. |
Yosemite is out today, but xcode 6.0.1 is still the latest available in the app store. Please reopen and fix this issue until 6.1 has actually been released in the app store. |
Xcode 6.1 is needed to build software on 10.10; Xcode 6.0.1 does not have the 10.10 SDK. We still need to recommend Xcode 6.1 even if it's not in the app store yet. |
Lord. Xcode 6.1 will be on the App Store imminently according to upstream. Cool your horses. 6.0.1 is useless for Yosemite. Sent from my iPhone

I see Xcode 6.1 available here without any developer program credentials: https://developer.apple.com/downloads/index.action |
XCode 6.1 is not in the App Store yet. Until then, here is a direct link to download XCode for Yosemite. https://developer.apple.com/downloads/download.action?path=Developer_Tools/xcode_6.1/xcode_6.1.dmg |
@scarver2 thanks for the link my Homebrew has been broken for awhile and I couldn't find the download anywhere! |
brew doctor wrongly shows Xcode 6.1 to be the latest version - it's actually 6.0.1
