Los Angeles Police Department 2010 - 2015 Data

The LAPD provided the Million Dollar Hoods or MDHLA with two separate data sets. One was the Bookings arrests from 2010 to 2015, which is the logs of all individuals who were arrested and booked at a police station. This data set includes arrest date, bookings date, report id, felony/misdemeanor/other charges, name, race and gender. The Bookings data set lacks the release date of the individuals thus MDHLA does not know if the booked individual was transferred to the Sheriff department or released within 72 hours of being arrested. The second data set provided is the Released data from 2010 to 2015. This has the released dates and the aforementioned fields in the bookings data set. With the released data set the MDHLA was able to calculate how long an individual was incarcerated but this data set lacked the felony/misdemeanor/other charges that is provided in the bookings data set. MDHLA tested if the report id field of the Bookings arrests matched the Released report id field in order to gain the felony/misdemeanor/other charges, the report id for both data sets do not match. There is also no other unique identifier such as birth date available. Without unique id that connects both data sets MDHLA is unable to display the charges associated with LAPD arrests. This is why there is no felony/misdemeanor/other charges count for the LAPD 2010-2015 map.
