Nesting type objects

I tried to nest type objects in blenderbim; the correct element assembly type created but no relationship shows up. Also, I would like to create an IfcRelDefinesByObject relationship between types and occurrences. This could be useful for creating something like model groups in Revit.

Would be great if nesting could be achieved via collections. Maybe the empty could control the decomposition type?

I thought the discussion was about extending the IfcGroup functionality. Apparently I'm a bit late to the party :).

Maybe hierarchical typing (inheritance) would be another option? It might not reflect in the IFC file but would have to be in the application then. Not so "pure" I know...
