The workshop is intended for learning how to work with basic features GitHub, Markdown, GitHub Desktop, and VS Code. You will learn the following skills:
- Edit Markdown files
- Commit changes
- Create new branches
- Open pull requests
- Clone a repository
- (GitHub only) Add inline comments to committed files in pull requests
- (GitHub only) Add comments to pull requests
- (GitHub only) Merge pull requests
- Do the above-mentioned tasks using VS Code and GitHub Desktop
Before the actual workshop tasks, you will be presented with the introduction to GitHub, GitHub Desktop, and VS Code. The focus of the workshop is to learn how to benefit from using GitHub in your day-to-day documentation tasks.
Ensure that you meet the following prerequisites before you attend the workshop:
- Register an account in GitHub GitHub.
- Install GitHub Desktop.
- Install Visual Studio Code.
- Send your GitHub account to Igor Kazmyr (via Chat or email).
