Install and modify scripts for Visual Studio 2017 Professional
These scripts are designed to capture and pin the install and modify process of the Visual Studio Installer to a specific version, and to disable update checking and prompting in as many ways as possible. In studio environments it's frequently best to support one version of Visual Studio at a time, and be able to roll a consistent version across whole teams.
Some things to keep in mind:
- To upgrade beyond a version installed by these scripts you need to uninstall vs2017 and
Microsoft Visual Studio Installer - There is a hard coded set of components and workloads that are mostly appropriate to console game and tools development
Configuration variables
Download a full "layout" of the install files necessary to install/modify Visual Studio 2017
Invoke the installer affixed to the "layout" files accessible to these scripts (no slipstreamed updates)
Similar to install, but land in the modify dialog instead of barrelling through the install with specific components
