Configure a custom domain for your GitHub page

  1. Take a quick scan at this page .

  2. Login to your domain services.

  3. Click Manage

  4. On the left bar click on DNS & Nameservers as shown below

  5. Modify the existing DNS record of type A and name @ and change its content from 66.96.xxx.xxx to 185.199.108.153 which is github's IP address. This should look like this

  6. Add three more DNS records of type A and name @ with content 185.199.109.153, 185.199.110.153, 185.199.111.153 respectively.

  7. Add a DNS record of type CNAME and name www with content ioanniskaragiannis.github.io.

  8. On the root directory of the current repo go to Settings, scroll down and setup your custom domain as shown below. For the change to take effect it may take a few hours or even a day. Be patient. You are all set.

  9. Confirm that you have set your custom domain successfully.

    • On the root directory of your github repo make sure that a file with the name CNAME is created with the content ioanniskaragiannis.net.

    • On you linux temrinal type the following:

      dig ioanniskaragiannis.net +noall +answer

      If everything was done properly you should see something like this

      ioanniskaragiannis.net. 1800    IN      A       185.199.110.153

      ioanniskaragiannis.net. 1800    IN      A       185.199.109.153
