This is just to make the mod current with the current pushes to the repo. I have some more plans in the near future for this; I just have to make time for them and get them working.

The biggest changes in this are just general bug fixes. Some are config related, others are related to the continuity additions I added in the previous update.

Changelog

This is copy/pasted from #29

Summary of changes:

Account for original models in OnFrame checks - should help with #27
Small code optimizations in the OnFrame checks
[Internal Code changes to build functions and dependencies.]
Added more Lantern fixes for EV Tornado 2 (found a missing material during a palette test playthrough)
Suppressed warnings in header files - the mod should now build a bit faster and without warnings
Fixed the ReplacePVM macro, which is called in the mod with two arguments but was using only one argument in the macro, resulting in a warning during compilation.
Removed some Lantern API fixes related to Gamma's upgrades (see comment)

The gist of that is that OnFrame errors listed in #27 should be fixed. I'm leaving the issue open currently as I'm unsure if it's 100% fixed or not. If anyone tests and finds errors, please report to that issue. If nothing is reported by the time I roll around to updating this again, I'll likely close it.

Bug Fixes and New Changes | Release 1.85

Hey Everyone!

I've finally sat down and went through to fix up some unresolved problems from the last release. First and foremost, all gbix problems has been resolved (at least they better be >.>). Secondly, @PiKeyAr did a fantastic job updating some Lantern API related stuff. General code clean up is always appreciated. And finally, I've gone through and brought over all higher resolution from the AutoDemo. This change brought about a realization; I should probably convert over to pvmx as I've realized it'll be better in the long run. Due to pvmx still not being properly usable with our tools, I'm releasing the raw texture packs alongside this release so everyone can still make their mods without any major problems.

I hope this doesn't bother too many folks. I'm hoping that, before too long, we'll have PVMX support in the tools, and modding the files will be much easier.

Thanks as always for all the support.

Minor Note: So there was a slight bug due to a missing texture. This has been fixed.

Changelog

  • General code clean up thanks to @PiKeyAr
  • All gbix errors from previously release are resolved.
  • Higher Resolution textures found in the AutoDemo have been migrated over, resolving issue #21
  • PVMX is now being used for textures.

Configuration Update | Version 1.80 Release

Welcome to the Next Level

As everyone knows, the mod has been kind of stagnant for updates. Well this one brings in a slew of new stuff. The biggest addition is the addition for configuration options for all of the characters. You can enable and disable characters at will. This is really for the longevity of the mod honestly. With more character mods coming out, the ability to enable and disable the characters in this mod should help in preventing issues that might pop up. The most notable one for right now is the SA2 Sonic mod by MainMemory.

An additional little tibit that's been added are some consistency fixes. When you obtain the upgrades, they will appear on the jump models for Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles now. Additionally, Super Sonic can now have the original shoes if you have Disable Upgrades enabled, and he'll have the Crystal Ring if you've obtained that by the time you go to Perfect Chaos. These features work with the Super Sonic in normal gameplay mod as well. This is also entirely toggle-able and disabled by default.

A quick little aside: I believe this update might break a few mods that have been created and based on the pre-existing mod. This is due to some changes in the PVM files for this specific update. I do apologize for that, but it should be easy for those creators to update their mods accordingly.

See the full changelog below. Hopefully I didn't break Sky Chase in this update. Thank you everyone for the continued support. I have plenty more mods planned in the future, some of which will be out sooner than you might think ;)

Changelog

  • Config Schema has been modified to be easier to read.
  • Added toggles for all characters.
    • All characters are toggle based.
    • Sky Chase also has an enable/disable toggle. The "Disable Saturn Skychase" toggle has been changed to "Enable EV Sky Chase" to avoid confusion. Requires Sky Chase to be enabled to be used.
  • Added toggle-able consistency fixes for Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles under the Extras configuration options.
    • Sonic's jump model will sport the LS Shoes if you have obtained them and a new spinball texture.
    • Super Sonic will use the normal shoes if the LS Shoes are disabled.
    • Super Sonic will have the Crystal Ring if you have obtained it prior to using him.
    • Tails will have the Jet Anklet in his spin model and a new jumpball texture if they have been obtained.
    • Knuckles will feature the Shovel Claw, Fighting Gloves, or both depending on the combination you have on his spin model as well as a new spinball texture depending on the visible upgrades.

Hey there everyone, this release is a quick update to the mod. Thanks to @PiKeyAr again for taking the time out to add in content that I've been lazy about getting around to. Eggman's puppet hands are now restored in this update. Full changelog below.

Changelog

  • Added Eggmobile Eggman's original hands and textures.

Quick Note

This version has been updated with the most recent commits. Mainly because I flubbed up and broke Sky Chase. It's been fixed. This version is current.

SHC 2018 Update | v1.57

Hello friends!

This is just a quick update to fix an issue that was present in this mod on last update, and I sadly kept forgetting to up date it. The DisableSaturnSkyChase configuration option did not work correctly, but it now should be functioning fine.

This update also includes a modified jumpball texture for Metal Sonic that a user, and friend of mine, submitted to me as a replacement. It reads better in-game. Feel free to read the changelog below although everything is already covered here.

Finally, this mod is in SHC 2018! It's not part of the contest, but it's entered into the Expo! I'm sure there will be several users of the expo this year seeing this release, so to all of you, I say hello! I hope this mod is enjoyable. If you have somehow missed out on it over the past year, I sincerely hope you enjoy the mod! I look forward to watching the live streams or showcases of this, and all other submitted mods this year!

Changelog

*Fixing Saturn Sky Chase toggle option in Config menu.
*Updated Metal Sonic spinball texture.

This is just a quick update with some minor changes. Nothing too special here, but I am including an additional archive on this release. My CHRMODELS folder! With this, you can pretty easily edit the DC Characters and make new additions or changes as you wish. Full change log below.

Changelog

  • Removal of HQ Textures
    • This will return, but it will be a separate mod. This change is for helping end users who wish to mod the DC Character textures.
  • Change of Metal Sonic's pvm filename.

Update 1.55

Hi there my friends! It's been about a month since the last update, and this one isn't anything super big, but it is a good one!

The Big Features

In this update, I've made a couple of changes as well as some additional features to the mod.

Issue #15

I have added a configschema, and have modified some of the config features be straight forward and no longer conflict with each other. What this will mean is you'll need to make sure you delete your old config file, and use the configschema to make sure your configurations take effect.

Issue #16

With the information that there were versions of the Sonic Adventure Characters textures in higher resolution, and some questions regarding them made via Twitter; I have decided to include them!

I'm not just including them in the game however, the textures in general are now hardcoded with the suffix "_DC" for the original textures from SA1. The new, higher resolution textures, sourced from the AutoDemo (turns out Shuffle's textures are not higher quality except maybe one or two eye textures) have the suffix "_HQ" and can be enabled from the config options.

Having the textures hard coded this way allows users to make mods that work for both the DC models AND DX models if they so desire. See below for the full list of changes.

Changelist

  • Merged config options
    • Metal Sonic Hover config options are now a single option.
    • Sonic's Stretchy Shoes config options are now a single option.
  • Hard coded textures.
  • Addition of HQ textures sourced from the AutoDemo for characters.

Update 1.50 | Fixes!

Well it's here, we've hit version 1 .50! So let me get right into the break down of the included fixes.

Version 1.50 Updates

  • Metal Sonic

    • Metal Sonic has had issues ever since I first added him, but he's finally fixed! Some will probably still argue he's too dark, but the root of that issue has been resolved by forcing his materials to now use the Character Specular within the Lantern Engine.
  • Tikal

    • This one was an accident when I updated to v. 1.45. I forgot to include Tikal's Dreamcast PVM, it is in this update, so no more needing to fix it yourselves. I do apologize for that one.
  • Sonic's Stretchy Shoes

    • So with the release of the Onion Skin mod, Sonic's stretchy shoes now look like they did on the good 'ol Japanese version, however they still had issues that were rooted within this mod. Thanks to the persistence of YouTube user ZoядkдяoZ, I finally looked at the code again, and turns out it's been messed up since release. I fixed it finally. I don't think they're 1:1 exact as there appears to be an occasional problem, but it's much better than it was.
  • Misc fixes

    • Thanks to SonicFreak94, there's been some fixes and clean up some of the stuff going on with the mod, and now the sadx-mod-loader is a submodule! This is just helpful going forward, and means everything stays up to date without me having to manually fix it every time.

That's is all for this update.

The Future

More updates are planned, I plan on supporting until I finally reach v 2.0 which will hopefully be the final update to the mod. I'm hoping to include a suggested addition to Super Sonic in the next update as well as get the non-puppet style hands in the works for those who would like that. Other things to finish are getting the remainder of Eggman's models swapped on their hands and textures, and I recently found a bug with Tails that may have existed since the Dreamcast version of the game. I'm hoping to resolve that next update as well.

Thank you everyone for the support for basically over a year now. It's been great being back in the scene, and I'm glad I could offer up a mod that people really enjoy.

As always, follow me on Twitter for future updates regarding other mods I'm working on. Report any bug fixes to the Issues section of this repo or hit me up on Twitter.

Update 1.45 | The Eggman and Tikal Update

So this is an update including Tikal and Eggman finally working in game. Tikal's hands have finally been replaced and Eggman's main model outside of his Egg Mobile has been too, I have to get the rest of the models to replace those models.

There is also a minor fix to the CD style Metal Sonic involving a hopefully better looking model in-game. The textures are still super dark, but the model's normals are all correct so it looks a bit better.

The final fix being introduced in this is my fix for Knuckles and Sonic to the DisableUpgrades mod! This mod and that mod are now 100% compatible! Hopefully that'll make a lot of users happy now.

As usual, find me on the usual channels to report any bugs or suggestions for the future of the mod.

Thanks to @PiKeyAr, there were some fixes and patches to my last release, and hopefully this will fix any potential issue users could run into as well as finish up the Lantern API patches. The next steps for the mod are mostly for adding in some more config options. I'll be making an Issue for suggestions on config options.

Again, big thanks to @PiKeyAr for helping on this to finish up those fixes and stuff. As always, let me know on the usual channels if you find any bugs or potential problems.
