Hi, I found Misfin on sr.ht and it looks really promising, although I still have some questions about the protocol.

  1. I assume that the computers communicating with Misfin are going to be servers, how would a regular user send and retrieve mail? Will Misfin servers communicate with the user via IMAP or POP? Or will there be another protocol for users to communicate with Misfin servers? Or am I thinking too complex and will users SSH into their Misfin servers?

  2. What is the motivation for the 2k character limit? It is certainly interesting since you make it difficult for people to extend the protocol which is certainly what you want, otherwise you would just end up with the same situation traditional e-mail has today. But I fear that it could also be quite limiting, as the text I'm writing right now is already at ~40% of that.

@Redlolz Valid questions, I also asked myself these. Sending Misfin mail via Lagrange and reading it via same would be perfect of course :-) I would guess that an integrated Gemini+Titan+Misfin server would be the perfect solution. GmCapsule comes to mind, which is very extensible - and also written in Python.
