Hail Fellow and Well Met. We trust that your seed distributes widely.

This release isn't as big as the last but it's still quite a lot of changes!

Here's some of my favorites:

  • We can now load kerning data for fonts from a 'kerndat.fnt' file within a given font's directory
  • Kruzen remade the classic DOS and 3DO spheres while in orbit of a planet
  • Show Auto-Pilot destination and distance to destination at the top of the screen when Smart Auto-Pilot is enabled
  • We added the ability to toggle reticules over stars of interest using the ALT key on the StarMap
  • Optional Slaughter Mode which lets you affect select alien race's Sphere of Influence by destroying their ships in battle
  • Point of no return fuel indicator is now a proper ellipse thanks to Malin and Kruzen

And the biggest change is I've moved release files back to SourceForge

Well, we're not hardware people, so we only know the theory.

Welcome to the most ambitious version of The Ur-Quan Masters MegaMod!

The changes are too many to list so I'll just go with a few of my favorites...

  • The HD UI has been completely overhauled to look just like Vanilla UQM, but in HD.
  • Some alien conversation artwork has been remastered (Most notably Cdr. Hayes)
  • Recreated all the UI fonts (not the alien fonts) for HD, they can be found in this very repository in TTF and OTF format
  • New Flagship, modules, and lander graphics created by Jordan Lo
  • Show visited stars on the StarMap by dimming the visited star and putting parenthesis around its name
  • Kruzen recreated the DOS planet scan and lander view
  • Found a way to generate 3DO planet textures and DOS/3DO mineral amounts and placements in the default seed
  • New option that makes auto-pilot find the shortest way out of the solar system
  • Kruzen reimplemented the "read speed" DOS option when not using voices
  • Kruzen recreated the Constellation Map but now it is drawn in-engine so you can now zoom in and out
  • Added a "Known Homeworlds" map that shows homeworlds based on the information you've received

The Android package is just a novelty. And as such I do not officially support it.
If there are any bugs that are only found on Android they will be addressed in the next major release (v0.8.2).

The macOS package was built in 10.13 (High Sierra) so I do not know what kind of compatibility it will have with the latest macOS.

UPDATE: I've heard from others that have said it works beyond High Sierra but you have to allow it to run from the Security & Privacy preferences in the System Preferences menu, after you've tried to run it once.

Oh God...Please don't let me die today! Tomorrow would be so much better!

I bring you perhaps the largest release yet. So many fixes, added features, and changes.
Too many to list here on this very release description so I'll boil it down to my favorites.

  • SDL2 Support ported over from UQM v0.8.0 by Ala-lala
  • Better controller support for Windows and macOS (and possibly Linux)
  • Replaced all fonts in HD and recreated the Chmmr and "StarCon" font by hand
  • Tightened up the HD graphics even further to match Classic
  • Tons of changes behind the scenes to make the best version of the MegaMod yet

But seriously there is way too many changes to put in this feeble description.

Windows XP and Windows Vista support is dropped.
The macOS version should work on 10.6 (Snow Leopard) through 10.15 (Catalina).
I have no way of testing beyond 10.13 (High Sierra).
And as before I do not officially support the Android version, it exists as a novelty.

Old MegaMod saves will not work in this update.


Slight bug fix update

Fixed a crash while waiting in orbit of certain planets
Fixed ship roster overflows when using the x10 button/key

Addressed the graphical bug at the bottom right of the image.


Yet another slight bug fix update

Fixed a crash when buying tech from the Melnorme.
Fixed loading in HD (Flagship would often appear at the bottom/center of the solar system after load)

Release binaries updated to reflect changes.
