I'm not sure if it's possible now, with a workaround for the existing API, but I need a way to let my users add images, without immediately/automatically displaying that image's resize controls. Following that, I'd like to be able to put the cursor on a new line following the image, where the user can start typing immediately.

Is that possible with the current API, or is this a feature request?

You can't do it with the API.
I'll add a "componentAutoSelect" option.
It is applied to components that occupy the entire line, such as images and videos.
