Updated for Patch 5.8 on steam (Balance patch notes: https://steamcommunity.com/app/221380/discussions/0/3317353727660644250/ ). New Auto Updater, thanks to Gregstein.

There are no further changes compared to 5.7.4

Due a game-crashing bug, this had to be updated to 5.8.1

Changes in 5.8.1 (b): Thanks to Sakura, there is also a localization for simplified chinese, as well as improved tooltips in simplified chinese now.

Changes in 5.8.1 (c): The installer no longer copies savegames when using the old patches/data mods option. Thanks to Jeowaypoint for the report. Also included a new multiplatform version of the auto-updater, thanks to Gregstein!

Changes in 5.8.1 (d):

  • Offline language files also use a new implementation with an .ini file that should solve problems with special characters in other languages, thanks to goto-bus-stop!
  • The problem with WK data mods corrupting the drs file, resulting in crashes/weird graphics should be fixed.
  • Recordings are shared between voobly and offline installation from now on - However, if an offline savegame folder already exists, you will need to delete that (back up any games!) before installation to make this work.

Changes in 5.8.1 (e):

  • Included a new version of the "Hippo Mod" for Clash of the Hippo 5. The old version is now called CotH4
  • Updated the offline Userpatch version to the Release Candidate (6268)

Changes in 5.8.1 (f):

  • With a major rewrite thanks to goto-bus-stop, the installer should now be better compatible with Linux and the core functionality is available as the libwololokingdoms library without the need for a gui
  • A variety of smaller improvements to make the installer run smoother/use less space.
  • Fixed an issue with monk outlines vanishing behind buildings for some civs
  • Included Mangrove Shallows Cup Datamod

Changes in 5.8.1 (g):

  • Fixed an issue with savegames not being shared between the voobly/offline installation
  • Fixed an issue with the music playlist not being generated properly
  • Onagers and Balllista Elephants that can't cut trees (on maps that use this) have (NoCut) added to their name

As always, the "letter" upgrades only affect your local installation, all players with a 5.8.1 version can play together.

You can either use the exe download (smaller file size, a bit more convenient to rerun the installation) or the WololoKingdoms 5.8.1.zip download (May work better with antivirus software, also doesn't create an entry in your installed programs list). Otherwise, they work identically.

This version is rated now

Changes with the new 5.7.2 (b) version of the installer:
-Data mods based on 5.7.2 (Such as Titans of Arina or Patch 5.7 for watching recs) should now function properly
-The new hotkeys for Siege Towers, Feitorias, Palisade Gate and Genitour are now functional.
-It should hopefully be a bit more stable and not fail on all errors
-Rec analyzers can now test resource 198 for a current version number to check the mod version of a rec. Current version is 1572 (1 = WK, 572=current patch of WK)
-The installer should hopefully show freezing less often. If you still encounter it, please note the percentage and the current message shown in the installer and open an issue for it.

Changes with this version:
-Two new terrains have been added to the data file: Mangrove Shallows in Terrain slot 11 and Cracked Earth in Terrain Slot 38 (With a damage multiplier for buildings of 1.2). To make place for these terrains, Dirt2 has been removed (use the Building residue terrain 27, which has the same looks), the Snow Road terrain has been moved from 38 to 33, and the Snow Dirt terrain in 33 removed (use the Snow Residue terrain in 36, same looks).
For players and RMS scripters, you shouldn't need to care about the specifics (the internal constants have been updated accordingly). For existing scenarios, the terrains need to be switched to make them work as intended.

-The real world and special maps have been updated to reflect this. Apart from the Indonesia and Phillipines real world maps (which are more complicated), they should behave identically to the HD version equivalents.

-The automatic map converter built into the installer has been improved, and enabled for the "random-map-scripts" folder of the HD install. This means the installer will automatically try to convert your HD maps to work with WololoKingdoms. Hopefully it should work in most cases. It fails if the map uses its own terrain constants instead of the default ones. In some cases the result might work different than on HD, e.g. if the map needs to differentiate between regular water and DLC water for terrain replacement/object placement.

-The Independent Architecture concept has been expanded to units. The default unit looks are unchanged, but open for modding now. SLP numbers for modding are simple: Take the existing SLP number and add a value depending on the civ group. The values are:
-(0: Default)
-60000: Goths, Teutons, Vikings (Central European)
-70000: Byzantines, Huns, Slavs, Magyars (East European)
-80000: Spanish, Italian, Portuguese (Mediterranean)
-90000: Japanese
-100000: Chinese, Mongols, Koreans (East Asian)
-110000: Burmese, Vietnamese, Malay, Khmer (Southeast Asian)
-120000: Turks, Persians, Saracens, Berbers (Middle Eastern)
-130000: Indians
-140000: Ethopians, Malians (African)
-150000: Incas, Aztecs, Mayans (American)

I recommend making use of the mod_override folder of the installer to test these out. The civ list isn't final, I'm open to suggestions, though I don't want to blow up the count of different groups more than this.

-Added Barbarian and Promi to the list of AIs, made Promi the defaul AI.
-Added a "No Snow" option

-The three Ice Terrains (Shallow Ice/26, Solid Ice/35 and Ice Beach/37) now use different SLP files. The default appearance is the same, but it allows for terrain mods that distinguish between the terrains, e.g. to make it visible where ships can and can't go. You can see this in use when selecting the "No snow option"
Shallow Ice/26 is 15024.slp, Solid Ice/35 is 15020.slp and Ice Beach/37 is 15034.slp
(Thanks to Chrazini for the suggestion!)

-There are new "Resource Workshop" buildings, which have a resource trickle like a feitoria for map makers to use.
IDs 1300-1303: Auto-Convertible Food, Wood, Stone Gold Workshops
IDs 1304-1307: Regular Food, Wood, Stone Gold Workshops
1308: Auto-Convertible Workshop with all four resource trickles
1309: Regular Workshop with all four resource trickles.
All resource trickles are at a rate of 1/s. The speed of the trickle can be adjusted globally (for all such buildings on the map, including regular Feitorias) by changing the amount of resources 205-208 (Food, Wood, Stone, Gold) with effect_amount statements or corresponding triggers. (Thanks to Chrazini for the suggestion and Scripter for assistance)

-Fixed text not being centered in the Achievement Screen
-Added an option to disable fire galleys and demo rafts in feudal (with fire ship/demo ship not needing the war galley research) with rms scripting. There is an AOC_Islands.rms map included that demonstrates this. (Disabling Tech 604 disables Fire Galleys, Tech 605 Demo Rafts. Disabling Tech 168 enables Fire Ships in Castle, and disabling Tech 170 enables Demo Ships in castle)
-Fixed Malay Fish traps getting 730 food
-Fixed Khmer getting their no building requirements bonus in All Tech Games
-Fixed Turks/Huns getting cutting mangonels/onagers on nocut maps
-Added the option to enable the X-Patch Trade cart change (In short: Trade Carts twice as effective and expensive to reduce the number of units). To do so, disable Tech 88.
-Added the option to move coinage/banking techs:
Disable Tech 17 to remove Banking, Tech 23 to remove Coinage. Disable Tech 223 to get Castle Age Coinage, Tech 224 for Imperial Age coinage and tech 225 for Imperial Age Banking.
-Added XP_Black_Forest.map to demonstrate this.

Installer improvements:
-Allows selection of the install directory if the default directory is not the desired one.
-Makes it possible to not install the restricted civ versions (WololoKingdoms FE/AK) if that's not desired. For offline Games, this is now always the case
-Remembers the settings used during the last installation
-Allows a pure offline install without Voobly
-Makes it possible to decide whether custom HD maps (in the random-map-scripts folder) should be converted and copied or not.

5.7: Auto-Updater, HD Patch 5.7

Important Note:

For personal reasons, I will pause development on this project myself, and this github page is not updated. However, future updates will still be released. The new link for that is https://github.com/AoE2CommunityGitHub/WololoKingdoms/ Please download from there and also use the new link to report any issues or ask questions that you might have

Patch 5.7 is now rated on Voobly!

Version 5.7 has a different dataset from previous version. Everyone who installed a previous version needs to download this new version and run the new installer again.

Note: For personal reasons, I will pause development on this project myself. However, future updates will still be released by other Volunteers (currently TriRem is in charge, thanks to him!). The new link for that is https://github.com/AoE2CommunityGitHub/WololoKingdoms/

NOTE: UP 1.5 is still in beta and recs/saves etc. are not guaranteed to work with newer updates of 1.5. The WololoKingdoms installer itself is also under development.

Make sure to download the WololoKingdoms.zip to run the installer, not the source files!

Changes with 5.7

-Changed the version number so it's in sync with Steam patch numbers.
-Unbound the Wonder hotkey, so it doesn't conflict with other hotkeys when used for Palisade Gate/Feitoria
-Changed the description of hotkeys in the hotkey menu to clarify which hotkeys to use for Palisade Gates, Feitorias, Battle elephants, siege towers, Genitours
-Added the option to adjust garrison flags/blacksmith smoke for WK architectures, so they don't float in the air
-Fixed some garrison flags for regular architectures too
-Improved the detection which hotkey files are in use, with additional backups
-Added experimental support for Traditional Chinese
-Dynamic Loading of data mod list and expected version numbers
-adds a profile for normal aoc if none exists
-Fixed some small issues with independent architecture
-Made some code nicer to read
-Incas now get a llama on nomad when building the first TC
-Cartography is auto-researched upon building a market as in patch 5.7
-Included a No Wall/BBT mod

This patch also includes a (very hacky) auto-updater so that ideally, going forward you do not need to redownload future releases, but merely need to run the installer again.

If you have any questions, please check first if the readme answers them: https://github.com/Jineapple/WololoKingdoms

There were quite a few logic changes made to the installer with 5.7 and it's possible a few new bugs might have been introduced. Let me know if you encounter any issues

2.7: Fixed Architecture, Vietnamese Nomad bonus and other fixes.

-This version is now RATED on Voobly

Important note: Unpack the installer into an empty directory or you could have an issue with monks turning invisible when standing

I will update this release occasionally with a new development version. It's ready for multiplayer, but I might still update it with bug fixes. The zip has all the current development work in it. It can be played via Voobly - You need to install the 1.5 beta and select that as the patch to play the game on (instead of 1.4 RC)

Version 2.7.2 has a different dataset from previous version. Everyone who installed a previous version needs to download this new version and run the new installer again. To avoid any possible confusion with the buggy version of 2.6, I've skipped a version number to go to 2.7

NOTE: UP 1.5 is still in beta and recs/saves etc. are not guaranteed to work with newer updates of 1.5. The WololoKingdoms installer itself is also under development.

Make sure to download the WololoKingdoms.zip to run the installer, not the source files!

Changes with 2.7.2 (d) (Not released yet, testing still)

-Unbound the Wonder hotkey, so it doesn't conflict with other hotkeys when used for Palisade Gate/Feitoria
-Added the option to adjust garrison flags/blacksmith smoke for WK architectures, so they don't float in the air
-Fixed some garrison flags for regular architectures too
-Improved Hotkey copying, with additional backups

Changes with 2.7.2 (c)

-Fixed a bug where the "compatslp" folder wouldn't get deleted, causing interface issues if the user still has compatibility patch v4 instead of v5 installed.
-Included the latest 1.5 UP beta for offline installation

Changes with 2.7.2 (b)

-The offline installation EILSEQ issue should be fixed for French as well now
-If someone previously selected the "Use HD hotkeys only for this mod option", selecting a different option and reinstalling will now properly get rid of the mod-specific hotkeys.
-Improved some error messages.
-Included the latest 1.5 UP beta for offline installation
(No Data changes, so you don't need to reinstall unless one of the changes affected you before)

Changes with 2.7.2

-Introduced a letter for updates that only affect the installer itself and not the game itself. A future update to the installer could be called 2.7.2 (b). Players with 2.7.2 and 2.7.2 (b) could still play together, data changes will always increase the actual number
-Unhid Sharkatzor in the Editor
-Included a NoCut_Black_Forest map with automatic onager cutting disabled, and an imperial age technology to make mangonels and onagers cut trees with a significant cost and research time.
-Fixed an issue where standing monks could sometimes turn invisible. Make sure you unpack the installer into an empty directory or this issue could persist.
-Included history text files for the new civs
-Included Installer 2.5. as a data mod option to watch recs played on that version of the installer
-Fixed an issue where the language file wouldn't get created if it was the first installation.
-Fixed an issue where quicksand in african maps would look like rock
-Improved the detection of AoC and the disabling of the run button if a requirement isn't met

Changes from 2.5:
-The default version number is now 2.7.2. You will only get a longer version number as previously if you were not on the current live patch on Steam when you ran the installer. Data Mods based on WK have seperate version numbers.
-Included a WK Hippo Mod: Moves Stone Walls/Gates to Castle Age, players start with -370 stone (30 with medium resource start). Version number 1.0. At request of Tsu_Nilpferd for Clash of the Hippo.
-The vietnamese enemy TC reveal bonus now works on Nomad.
-This fixes a crash with CBA due to faulty IDs
-This fixes a fault with languages other than english, which would sometimes have (bugged) english lines.
-The EILSEQ issue for non-english language dlls should be fixed.
-Added an option to deselect regional monks in the installer.
-Reduced the number of graphics duplicates in the data file by about 5K.
-Fixed graphcis issues with the mediterranean gates (Italian/Portuguese)
-Fixed some gates having 1x1 rubble
-Detetion of install paths improved a bit
-Terrain 15 (old water) now uses a seperate slp (15003), same for terrain 40 (KotH) which uses 15033.slp
-Included a salty CBA scenario for WololoKingdoms (Thanks to EuronNaharis)
-Included a WololoKingdoms Logo to replace the Conquerors one (Thanks to Shulker)
-AK and RotR civs now have their appropriate interfaces (A big thank you to Phoenix1vs!)
-Included a noncutting Castle Age Ballista Elephant that can be enabled per map. Enabled it for the CtR Monsoon and CtR Random maps.
-Improved the symlink logic to share files between different versions of the WK mod, for easier use and less disk usage.
-Furious the Monkey Boy now behaves like a gaia animal instead of being able to be collected (at request)

2.5: Fixing 2.4 bugs Pre-release
Pre-release

UP 1.5 is now in public beta, therefore so is this installer ;)

I will update this release occasionally with a new development version. It's ready for multiplayer, but I might still update it with bug fixes. The zip has all the current development work in it. It can be played via Voobly - You need to install the 1.5 beta and select that as the patch to play the game on (instead of 1.4 RC)

Version 2.5 has a slightly different dataset from previous version. Everyone who installed a previous version needs to download this new version and run the new installer again.

NOTE: UP 1.5 is still in beta and recs/saves etc. are not guaranteed to work with newer updates of 1.5. The WololoKingdoms installer itself is also under development.

Make sure to download the WololoKingdoms.zip to run the installer, not the source files!

Changes from 2.4:

-Version check now works on the converted dat file instead of the original hd dat file, which should avoid the issue of OOS with slightly different dat files that happened in 2.4
-Removed some files I accidentally left in from testing before
-Made sure some files are being properly closed
-There is now a basic log.txt file being created during installation, to help figure out issues
-There are more languages that can be selected (Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Russian). Let me know if there are issues
-The tooltip mod has been updated for 5.5 changes
-If you don't own rise of the Rajas, the installer will remove earlier (2.3) versions of the data mod, which it didn't do properly before.
-This is the version that is rated on Voobly.
There were quite a few logic changes made to the installer with 2.4/2.5 and it's likely a few new bugs might have been introduced. Let me know if you encounter any issues

NOTE: I had temporarily uploaded a 2.6 version. I had to remove that again as there are bugs I didn't catch and wasn't able to immediately fix. For now this is the rated version, you can re-download it, but running an already downloaded 2.5 installer again is also fine.

Make sure to download the WololoKingdoms.zip to run the installer, not the source files!

Changes from 2.3:

  • The installer now allows for Data Mods based on WK or old patches (for rec viewing) to be installed.
  • In order to test this, I've included a "balance patch", which implements the trade cart change from x-patch disabled onager&castle age balliste elephant cutting and nerfs slinging by putting the base tax to 50%, moving coinage/banking up one age, with coinage reducing to 35% and banking to 20% tax. As said, this is mostly a test for the option to install a data mod and not a finished product.
  • If someone doesn't own all DLCs, seperate Data Mods (WololoKingdoms FE and WololoKingdoms AK) are now installed instead of trying to have people play together with potential crashing if they don't follow instructions. If you own all DLCs, all 3 data mods will be installed (using symlinks to save hard drive space)
  • Team Units (Condotierro, Genitours, Imperial Skirmishers) now show correctly as unavailable or unresearched depending on the situation in-game
  • Fixed a graphical error with placing chinese gates
  • Fixed an issue with the installer if the user does not have a player0.hki hotkey file for HD
  • There is version check for the dat file to make sure incompatible dats aren't played together (e.g. 5.4 and 5.5 balance)

There were quite a few logic changes made to the installer and it's likely a few new bugs might have been introduced. Let me know if you encounter any issues

Changes from 2.3:
-Turtle Ships now use the same hotkey as Longboats/Caravels
-Genitours/Siege Towers use the now free Turtle Ship hotkey
-Fixed Khmer villagers dropping off resources in houses
-Fixed wrong description of Korean LoS bonus
-Fixed custom monks' dying animation
-Cannon Galleons can patrol now instead of the (for them) mostly useless attack ground
-Galleons get their firing sound from Age of Kings back
-The mangrove forest terrain has been moved from terrain nr. 15 (shoreless water) to terrain nr. 20 (oak forest). The latter one isn't really used since it's the same as nr. 10 (forest), just with a different name, and this change makes nr. 15 usable again for special scenarios and the like.

Playing Rise of the Rajas is now possible! The release is stable, but there are still issues to be fixed:
-The Burmese team bonus and the Vietnamese enemy reveal civ bonus don't work
-AIs currently won't be able to interact with the new units
-There are interface issues for Britons

NOTE: A lot of things have changed and the converter now also tries to do some stuff automatially like changing hotkeys, adding music etc. NO GUARANTEES. Best make a backup before running it!
