Welcome to the EQ2 Layout Editor Wiki! Throughout this document lies the information you need to become familiar with the layout editor and its features.
On first load, the layout editor should look like this (Version 2016.07.18)
- File
- Open Layout File
- Opens a dialog to allow you to choose a layout file to edit

Differential Comparison
- Opens a dialog to allow you to compare two layout files.
- Save
- Saves the current file
- Save As
- Saves the current file as a file of your choosing
- Save Changes Only As
- Saves only the changes made from the last open/save (Whichever is latest)
- Import Group from File
- Imports item groupings from another file
- Import Notes from File
- Imports item notes from another file
- Merge another layout into current file
- Joins two files together
- Open Layout File
- View
- All Items
- Clears the filter on the view
- Crate Items
- Only shows items in the moving crate
- Clear Sorting
- If you've sorted by any of the columns, this will put the data back in the order it was loaded (Editing while sorted sometimes can be...interesting)
- Visualize Layout
- Opens up a "map" of the item placement. Still under development.
- All Items
This area is the space where all of your items in the file reside. You can manually edit anything in this area if you so desire.
- ItemName
- The name of the item in game
- + West / - East (X)
- The east/west position in the game
- As indicated by the column header, the higher the number, the more Western it is
- + Up / - Down (Z)
- The Z position in the game
- + South / - North (Y)
- The Y Position in the game
- As indicated by the column header, the higher the number, the more Southern it is
- Z Rotation
- Rotates the item on the Z axis (If it is on the floor, it will spin)
- X Rotation
- The North/South rotation of the item.
- Y Rotation
- The East/West rotation of the item
- Scale
- How big the item is
- InCrate
- Is the item in the crate?
- ItemID
- The item's type identifier. This is the game's internal identifier for the type of item. Not recommended to edit.
- DatabaseID
- The Item's identifier. This is the game's internal identifier for THAT item. Not recommended to edit.
- Memo
- Any note you want here
- Circle / Spiral
- The interface for the Circle / Spiral generator
- Tile
- The interface for the tiling utility
- Mass Move
- Need to move a bunch of things fast and together? Use this.
- Groups
- The Group utility. Allows you to group items together for easy access.
- Rotate Items
- Rotates items as a group.
- Mirror
- The Mirror Utility
- Other
- Extended features: With this, you can
- Delete the items from the crate
- Generate a listing of the items in HTML or CSV format
- Clone Item(s) (Replicate selected items)
