Herein you shall find a small collection of KiCad templates for Eurorack panels and PCBs. PCBs are fairly basic--largely edgecuts and mounting holes--but will save time in project setup. I plan to gradually build this project out over the coming months.
Dimensions are based largely on the Doepfer standard. Note however, that while the Doepfer standard places mounting holes 7.5mm from the leftmost edge, the center of the mounting holes in the panel templates is 5.08mm from each edge. The mounting holes are oval; 3.2mm high and 7mm wide for a high level of spacing tolerance. This makes for symmetrical panels, and symmetry is beautiful. Be cognizant of this spacing if you adjust the width of the mounting holes. Is this too much tolerance? Let me know.
PCBs are 108.35mm in height. Observe that the PCB layouts are oriented around the panel, where [0,0] is the upper left of the panel. There are 0.75mm margins to the left and the right of the PCB, and 12.5mm top and bottom in relation to the panel.
To use these templates, simply move these directories to your KiCad user templates directory, or point the KICAD_USER_TEMPLATE_DIR
path to a folder containing them. Alternatively, you may browse for folders containing them (e.g., ../faceplates
) on the New Project from Template... folder browser dialog.
NOTE: The future is now! Templates are providedin the brand-spanking new KiCad 6.0 format.
