GoogleMap props aren't trigger ingchange until re-render

I have no idea where I'm going wrong, but the center and zoom props that I pass into the GoogleMap component are not triggering any sort of change until the component is re-rendered based on an outside change. Thus, the center of the map is right at 0 lat 0 lng, but as soon as something occurs in the parent to re-render the component in question, the center is correctly changed to the variable that I passed into the center prop (which is hard coded).

Does anyone have any insight as to why the initial load of the map is going wrong?
