Cannot connect to Dash iOS over WiFi

on v1.6.2 on iPhone and iPad, been getting

Could not send pair request. Error message:
Could not open connection. Try again.

while trying to connect to iOS from Mac.

Tried reinstalling both iOS and MacOS version, but cannot get remote to connect anymore.

In Console, Dash (macos) v4.0.5 kept looping the following connection error

Dash (DTBonjour): Error occurred: The operation couldn’t be completed. Connection refused

not sure if it's related to my WiFi (using Google WiFi without too much out of the box configuration)

problem disappeared as soon as I switched to LAN (which is also controlled by the same Google WiFi router)

restart computer / iOS devices did not do anything. problem goes away as soon as I moved from WiFi to LAN.

as soon as LAN is switched off and I jump back onto WiFi, problem resurfaces.

no special security configurations in Google WiFi, other iOS/Mac continuity / handsoff / bonjour related features works fine over WiFi

Dash can see but cannot connect to iOS remotes over WiFi
