Bulk deletion of forum topics

Description

  • Occasionally a spammer hits our forums and creates several (sometimes hundreds) of topics usually advertising a product or service relating to off-topic or inappropriate content.

Prerequisites

  • Administrator privileges are required for bulk deletion (moderator permissions are not enough)

Steps

  1. If not already, navigate to https://lmms.io/forum/ and login
  2. Locate the user's name in a post and click on it to view the profile.
  3. Click "Administer User" button, this will sign you into the Administration Control Panel.
  4. Make sure the user's posts are all spam by reviewing them
    1. Look for the post count (e.g. Posts: 17)
    2. Click the number (e.g. 17) to display posts
    3. If the user has valid posts, DO NOT PROCEED. Ban user and hand-delete the spam instead.
    4. If the user DOES NOT have any valid posts, proceed.
  5. First, ban user by IP address via "Basic Tools", "Quick Tools", "Ban IP"
  6. Second, delete the user and posts via "Delete User" (bottom of page) click "Delete Posts"
  7. Navigate back to forum to verify posts have been deleted.
