The miniature 27.3x20.9x12mm board, universal SPI pin connector and a place for male header makes the LaskaKit microSD reader a useful helper that you can connect to a Raspberry Pi Pico, ESP8266, ESP32 or even an Arduino Uno (in this case you need a logic level converter).
The module also has a high-side power switches circuit on the board for hot-swap applications (unexpected device connections). The circuit has current limitation as well as short circuit protection. The circuit itself also has under-voltage protection, and when detected, disconnects power to the device - in this case, the microSD card.
