Searching for a server for singleplayer mode #117

Cuberite! Yes it's only 1.12.2 currently and even then missing quite a lot for survival, but it's a compiled language (hello performance!, and no need to install an interpreter like the Java JVM) with an active community and is all around just an awesome project. For a long time I was hoping for a client-side edition of Cuberite, and well Leafish could be that. Having Leafish use it would give it a boost in interest as well, hopefully attracting more developers. |

I see more in this project. Minecraft servers are a whole market with quite a bit of money - remember that Hypixel, perhaps the largest Minecraft servers network, was acquired by Riot Games. Therefore, I see Leafish not just as a client implementation, but as a way into independence, acquired by building on a state-of-art network protocol as presented by the largest sandbox game in the world - Minecraft. Just sit and think about it for a second. We already have a blueprint and even two prototypes in form of Java and Bedrock editions. We are not starting from scratch, with no protocols and data formats and textures and so on. And even though server-side is hard, we already have ongoing projects on this side as well. To some degree, much like Unix transcended a specific OS and became a philosophy, Minecraft transcends a specific game and becomes "the Sandbox". It is a cultural legacy now, and this project is exactly a way to secure its future. Fantasies aside, I believe that, if we will be patient enough, this can turn out into a whole new game. To the very least, I see incentive in trying to launch one of first modded servers based purely on this game. Otherwise, as soon as core game stabilizes, integrating existing server implementations into Leafish is not that hard at all, even using different languages - but then it becomes so much more than Minecraft... |

We need some (opensource) implementation which we can use for single player mode.
