Blocked on #18

  • Essence scaling for monsters?
  • Monsters are currently behind the power scale because they don't have class abilities
    • Fewer affixes
    • No tactics abilities
    • This gets worse as tier increases
  • Need to be able to scale monster power without increasing their complexity. Monsters should generally have fewer affixes than players.

From the newly resolved attrition changes (#22)

  • Default balance should be 50/50 players vs monsters
    • Worldspeakers are allowed (and encouraged) to have tier-1 and tier+1 fights to keep things interesting
      • This should probably come emergently from danger levels
      • Although you could easily do OSR/Z1 style
    • Players should have information on approximate difficult of fight before starting

I think that could be achieved by making monster being a little stronger maths-wise on statics numbers, while also having less active abilities. I will try to find a good balance between complexity, power and boredom

This is much simpler due to flattened player power curves.

Sixfold's proposal, general plan:

  • Tweak numbers
  • Spell card system for big setpiece abilities that can only be used once
  • Revisit power building rules - clean these up a bit
  • Passive powers should be allowed (ex: beat of death)
  • Monsters should gain a few feats, but fewer powers (1-2 + spell card)
  • Have a monstrous feat list
  • Custom, unique powers/feats should also be allowed, but this should be largely reserved for the hacking guide
  • Look into Marco's fun table events idea thing
