I'm not completely sure if the rollback was the cause but everything was working pretty well the past few days but I noticed yesterday that I was getting disconnected from the colab runtime almost immediately.

Yes that happens whenever I try to launch, it instantly disconnects, also it gives me a bunch of "Disallowed code" everytime i bypass it, it just finds another way to give me the same thing
"DISALLOWED CODE" = If oyu're on free they nixed anything for Remote UIs on
TOS back in May.
I'm laughing because everyone should be reading this ToS instead of making
Notebook authors go insane trying to patch this.
Again, suggestion:
Kaggle might be a safe free option, i'm not sure i heard its free -
SECourses had some info about it recent
I stopped using colab around the time the UI things went nuts.
In theory even on free, like a file manager UI like EMJOY would be against
ToS.
Kinda hilarious because even on paid they throw the disallowed code if
you're not SUBSCRIBED but just pay for 100-200 credits at a time.
