As in the title.
I guess project is currently in its beta phase before the release 2.0.
Are you planning on creating PPA for this pre-release state as well ?

I will totally understand if you don't. Reason might be that the project is too small and finishing all the work remaining till the release is less fuss than maintaining a PPA for beta-testers.
Still, I you find the suggestion apt, please act accordingly.

Hi,

The thing is, I am not familiar with the PPA distribution approach. Even though it is labeled as beta, it is stable, although some of the features are not connected with the GUI components yet. This was done intentionally so that others may eventually step in and start getting involved by contributing on the easier features.

In short, it can be put in PPA channel, but I do not know how to. 😊

The thing is, I am not familiar with the PPA distribution approach.

Me neither.

Perhaps there's a way to install current development branch version directly from GitHub, using PPAs.
It is indeed the case for some frontend web-dev package managers (NPM, Bower, Webpack, …) - a stable version is published as a package, but you can install version directly from source-code repo too.
You can even specify a different branch than master.

If someone is familiar with PPAs, feel free to pick it up.
Otherwise, it has landed somewhere in the depths of my TODO-list.

So far I have found this bug --- No icon appears in cinnamon panel. However icon appears correctly in docky and everywhere else. This bug is absent in the v1.2.2 in PPA. I am not sure why.

Please test this package and let me know.

Rename it to .deb

brightness-controller_2.0_all.zip

Actually, there is a problem:

2017-05-26-024305_2646x1024_scrot

I didn't pay attention to this, because it has been like this for as long as I've been using the tool.
Not sure if that's what you meant by "icon in panel".

Icon in the menu is fine though:

menu_002

Please uninstall the previous one and try this. Rename it to .deb

The PPA is alive. https://launchpad.net/~apandada1/+archive/ubuntu/brightness-controller/

The brightness-controller-simple is v1 and brightness-controller is v2

I believe this is fixed. All it remains is to update README

PPA is now included in README.md
