I run Nightly v80. Maybe 3-4 days ago the first site I open after starting Fx take about 10 seconds. After the page loads all other pages load as they should. Exiting Fx and restarting it the same things happens all over.

I disabled FMN and I no longer have this problem. I'm going to play around with the options I set in FGM to see if I can narrow the problem down to an option.

Just wanted you to be aware of what I am experiencing. I'll post back my results.

The problem happens when I enable Local Storage to be cleaned on startup. Perhaps Nightly has made a change to Local Storage processing. Cleanup on domain leave seems to work OK.

You are talking about manually typing and loading a URL, not about a session restore, right? I am running 80.0 as well and just installed Forget-me-not today (to check #245) and tried to reproduce your issue (with the right setting enabled) but couldn't I am afraid.

What if you try it with a new browser profile?

A session restore also loads a URL, hence the clarification.

I just tried these exact steps and did not seem to be able to reproduce it. Do you have the most recent Nightly?

All right, I am on the most recent one too and just tried it again with all other extensions disabled. Loading a site after starting Firefox worked just fine.

  • Does it always happen or only when you - for example - had a significant amount of data in Local Storage?
  • Does it happen with every site or only sites using Local Storage?

Then I am out of ideas. Doesn't happen here. Which operating system?

Sorry for the late reply.

I just tried reproducing this with nightly and can't reproduce it either.

Apart from this, I am not even sure how this could get caused by my extension, since the cleanup happens on startup, not first website load.

The only things that interfere with the website loading are:

  • when blocking thirdparty cookie is enabled
  • when the instantly cleanup is enabled and there is a rule, which is set to instantly.

So unless you have either of these, I don't see how FMN might be causing this.

In #136 you said I could close your ticket. Did you mean to post this here?
